Barneveld, Netherlands – Spandex, the one-stop supplier of leading brands for graphic solutions – is strengthening its offering for customers in the Netherlands with the acquisition of Proga Plastics, a signage and graphic provider of rigid materials and bespoke cutting solutions based in Barneveld in the central region of the Netherlands.
Proga Plastics has been supplying signmakers and graphics professionals throughout the Netherlands for 24 years. The company offers a broad portfolio of rigid signage materials such as acrylic, rigid foam and aluminium composite sheets, including its own brand, Probond. In addition to rigid media, Proga also supplies plastic profiles for use in illuminated signage and advertising, LED lighting and POS/displays.
Proga’s fast, bespoke cutting service enables customers to order materials cut to size and/or to customised shapes. The service extends to all kinds of rigid materials and is a key element of the offering to customers and a clear point of competitive differentiation in the Dutch market.
The acquisition will enable the Spandex and Proga joint sales organisations to offer customers of both companies a comprehensive selection of roll and rigid media solutions, giving them access to the broadest branded product offering of any supplier in the Netherlands.
The combined media range will include high quality products from 3M, Avery Dennison, ImagePerfect, Mactac, Arlon, Orafol, Evonik, Kömmerling and Polycasa.
The agile bespoke cutting service will continue to be a strength of the combined operation, which will provide significant added value to Spandex customers. This service offering is backed by substantial investment in CNC cutting systems.
The combined business will continue to operate from both Proga’s existing distribution centre in Barneveld, and from the Spandex NL headquarters and warehousing facility in Veenendaal. Proga will retain its name and continue to be led by its existing management team and staff under founder Hans van Proosdij, but will work in close collaboration with Spandex colleagues at Veenendaal.
Rob Jackson, Group VP, Spandex, comments, “Proga’s excellent customer reputation, its high standard of service response, the breadth of its rigid media offering and the bespoke cutting service make it an ideal complement to Spandex, while the strong customer service ethic across the two companies promises a natural cultural fit. We are excited about the opportunities this creates for our joint customers.”
Founder and managing director of Proga Plastics, Hans van Proosdij adds: ”We are excited to be joining a company like Spandex, with such a strong international profile and infrastructure, and a world-class portfolio of branded products. We see immediate potential to grow together, by leveraging the expertise and relationships of both teams, and delivering an enhanced range of products and services to customers of both companies.”
