Earlier this year we posted a blog on the opportunities that vehicle wrapping presents, and the benefits that getting involved in this sector could bring to your business. We have since undertaken a research study which has provided further insight into the buying behaviour of Spandex’s vehicle wrapping customers across a range of countries.
Analysing the results, we were able to find out what these customers need from their vinyl suppliers and how they think we perform. Here we will share some of the findings with you – but keep reading our blog as there will be more insight over the coming weeks.
Small businesses, big projects
The majority of wrappers are small businesses, with 63% employing less than five people. Over 80% work with printed car wraps as well as colour change films, and the vast majority of printed wraps are unsurprisingly for commercial use (72%). On average, our respondents install nearly two printed wraps per week.
What benefits do these wrappers look for from their vinyl supplier?
Perhaps unsurprisingly the top answers in order of importance were: speed of delivery and product availability. These are followed by pricing; range of brands available; product knowledge and information; and problem resolution.
83% rank speed of delivery highest in importance out of the distributor attributes. We were pleased to see that nearly 90% of respondents are either ‘satisfied’ or ‘extremely satisfied’ with Spandex’s speed of delivery and this is consistent with our statistics – we are proud that we deliver on average 98% of orders next day and we monitor our performance carefully to ensure we are always on target.
Also, 86% of respondents are either ‘satisfied’ or extremely satisfied’ with our product availability and range of brands. 88% are at least comfortable with Spandex’s pricing with 61% being ‘satisfied’ and ‘extremely satisfied’.
Our sales team is also doing a great job, as over three quarters of respondents feel ‘satisfied’ or ‘extremely satisfied’ with the product knowledge and information they are getting. This is encouraging because the research also shows that sales representatives are the main source of product information for 66% of our customers. At Spandex, we train our sales teams regularly and it is rewarding to see this being reflected on the level of customer satisfaction.
Other benefits that are of importance to wrappers are: technical support, ability to get custom colours, availability of installer training and a distributor’s website – all of which Spandex performs well in. With our dedicated sales teams, excellent brand partnerships and the regular training we provide customers, as well as a roll-out of new customer portals and e-commerce sites starting from early 2016, we aim to perform even better on these criteria.
