As demand for coloured paint protection film continues to grow, installers are looking for solutions that combine visual impact, protection, and ease of installation. Through close partnerships and access to the latest innovations, Spandex supports businesses like Boss Dog in testing and adopting advanced PPF solutions with confidence.

A recent project saw Boss Dog put STEK Forceshield Coloured PPF to the test on their own vehicle – providing real-world insight into performance, finish, and install efficiency.

A Hands-On Approach to Product Testing

Boss Dog, specialists in vehicle-based signage and wrapping, regularly work across a wide range of applications – from simple graphics to full vehicle transformations. Testing new materials is a key part of their process, ensuring confidence before offering solutions to customers.

After attending the recent Spandex Summit, Luca Cabano, Owner of Boss Dog, and his team were introduced to STEK’s latest innovation.

“We got to see Spandex showcasing STEK’s new Forceshield product… when I saw the available colours, Shift Red Black stood out to me for my own car.”

Using a Mercedes C63 AMG as a test vehicle, the project provided a perfect platform to assess the film in a controlled, yet real-world scenario.

Why STEK Forceshield?

For Boss Dog, the appeal of Forceshield was immediate – not just in terms of colour, but its technical capabilities.

Finding a dry apply coloured PPF that performs consistently has traditionally been a challenge for installers, particularly when balancing ease of application with long-term performance. Forceshield offers a solution to this, simplifying installation while maintaining high standards of quality.

Compared to other PPF products they had previously used, the dry apply nature of Forceshield stood out as a key advantage – improving efficiency from the outset.

Faster Installs, Confident Application

From an installation perspective, Forceshield delivered strong performance across multiple areas.

The material demonstrated:

  • Strong and reliable adhesive, even in deep recesses
  • Reduced reliance on heat during install
  • Faster application compared to traditional colour change materials

“We installed the Forceshield quicker than a standard colour change material and barely used any heat.”

The ability to install efficiently without compromising on adhesion gives installers greater confidence – particularly on complex, high-value vehicles.

Premium Finish and Built-In Performance

Beyond installation, the finished result highlighted the full capability of STEK Forceshield.

The Shift Red Black colour delivered a highly dynamic finish, with noticeable depth and a striking colour shift depending on light and viewing angle. Combined with strong gloss levels, the overall visual impact was immediate.

“The gloss levels are fantastic, the number of colours within the shift effect is crazy, and the hydrophobic levels are the best I’ve seen – the overall quality is outstanding.”

Performance extended beyond appearance. The hydrophobic properties of the film were so effective that additional coating was deemed unnecessary – demonstrating the built-in protection and finish of the material itself.

Supported by Spandex

Alongside product innovation, Spandex continues to support Boss Dog with a streamlined supply of materials – providing easy access to trusted brands and simplifying day-to-day ordering.

This combination of availability and product range ensures installers can adopt new solutions like STEK Forceshield quickly and confidently.

Early Results and Future Opportunity

Although this project was a self-led test, the response from the team was immediate. What could often be a cautious process when working with new materials quickly became a positive experience, with both installation and finish exceeding expectations.

With additional colours expected to become available, Boss Dog sees strong potential for Forceshield in future customer projects and anticipates increased demand as the range expands.

A New Standard in Coloured PPF

For installers looking to balance performance, efficiency, and standout aesthetics, STEK Forceshield is already making a strong impression.

“Installing any new material can be a bit daunting, but Forceshield is really easy to work with, delivers an incredible gloss finish, and comes at a strong price point.”

Through real-world testing and close collaboration, Spandex and its partners continue to demonstrate how modern coloured PPF solutions can deliver both confidence and creativity in vehicle wrapping.
