As coloured paint protection film continues to gain popularity, installers are seeking solutions that deliver more than just a colour change. Customers increasingly want the visual impact of a vehicle wrap combined with the long-term protection benefits of premium PPF.

For Hertfordshire-based vehicle customisation specialists Filimize, the opportunity to test STEK Forceshield Air Silver Champagne Matte presented the perfect chance to explore whether coloured PPF could offer the bold finishes their customers expect, alongside the protection and durability modern vehicle owners demand.

About Filimize

Filimize Ltd is a family-run vehicle customisation and car wrapping specialist based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Founded by Filipino brothers Mark and Nicco, the business has built a reputation for delivering high-end automotive enhancements, including vehicle wraps, paint protection film (PPF), de-chroming, window tinting, wheel refurbishment and colour changes, and custom interior work.

With over a decade of industry experience, Filimize has worked on some of the world’s most prestigious supercars and hypercars, as well as vehicles owned by celebrities, footballers, boxers, rappers and actors. The team is particularly well known for creating striking chrome and custom vehicle finishes that stand out from the crowd.

Looking for More from Coloured PPF

As a business that regularly works with bold and eye-catching vehicle finishes, Filimize has always been keen to explore the latest products entering the market. However, previous coloured PPF solutions often came with compromises.

Many colour options were limited to more subtle shades and, in some cases, products relied on wet-apply installation methods that differed significantly from traditional wrapping workflows.

When the team received a sample swatch of STEK Forceshield Air, one colour immediately caught their attention.

The finish closely matched the appearance of a satin chrome vehicle wrap, a style that has become synonymous with many of Filimize’s projects. Combined with the added benefits of coloured PPF technology, it presented an exciting opportunity.

“When we received the swatch for STEK Forceshield Air, we were very surprised. There was a colour option that was very similar to our satin chrome wrapped GTR but with new technology and benefits. We wanted to try this out ourselves in hopes it would be something new and great quality to offer to our customers.”

Why STEK Forceshield Air?

For this project, Filimize selected STEK Forceshield Air Silver Champagne Matte to create the desired satin metallic appearance while benefiting from the performance advantages of modern paint protection film.

Already experienced users of STEK DYNOshield and DYNOMatte, the team were keen to evaluate how Forceshield Air compared.

A key attraction was the film’s dry-apply technology, which allows installers to wrap around edges more effectively while maintaining the familiar installation characteristics of traditional wrapping films.

Additional benefits included:

  • Dry-apply installation
  • Self-healing properties
  • Hydrophobic top coating
  • Long-term paint protection
  • Edge wrapping capability
  • Premium matte metallic finish

The result was a solution that combined aesthetic transformation with practical protection, offering customers the best of both worlds.

Installation Experience

One of the biggest advantages noted by Filimize was how easy the material was to work with. From the outset, the film felt familiar during installation, with handling characteristics that closely resembled traditional wrapping vinyl.

The team found the material quick to install and easy to adapt to, with good conformability across recesses and no issues tucking the film into trims or rubber seals. Compared to other dry-apply coloured PPF products they had used previously, STEK Forceshield Air stood out for its lower tack, flexibility and thinner construction, helping to streamline the installation process without compromising finish quality.

“We found the product very easy to work with and would say it’s almost 80% similar to wrap vinyl. We prefer working with this product over wrap and it’s much quicker to install. Compared to other dry-apply PPF brands we’ve used, it’s got less tack, is thinner and more flexible, making it so much easier to work with.”

The Finished Result

The completed vehicle delivered exactly the look Filimize had hoped to achieve. The Silver Champagne Matte finish created a striking satin chrome-inspired appearance, combining the visual impact of a wrap with the added reassurance of paint protection.

The reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with the vehicle attracting compliments almost immediately after completion. Beyond the appearance, the team appreciated the additional confidence that comes from knowing the finish is protected against everyday wear and tear.

“We are very happy with the finished product. The colour and finish is great and we have had so many compliments on it already. We are more confide

nt taking it down certain roads knowing it won’t scratch as easily. Overall, we have nothing bad to say about this product whatsoever and we’re looking forward to trying out a gloss colour next.”
