Matthias Grimm Returns to Lead Transformed Spandex in Iberia

Matthias Grimm has returned to the role of General Manager of Spandex in Iberia after a five-year stint leading Spandex’s German operation, H Brunner GmbH.

He takes over the Iberian general management position from Gabriel Mops, who has moved into a strategic role as executive director for corporate development for the wider Spandex group.

Matthias previously directed Spandex España from 2013 to 2015, prior to which he built decades of experience in sign-making and graphics production, including five years as director general of Igepa Adoc SA in Switzerland. A Swiss national, he lived and worked for 15 years in South America, where he operated his own sign-making and printing business.

Matthias Grimm comments: “Five years heading up Spandex’s business in Germany has been an exciting challenge. I’ve been stimulated by the growth opportunities in vertical markets like vehicle wrapping and paint protection, as well as printable textile and interior décor, and have gained valuable insights into our global organisation. Now, I’m returning to a very different organisation in Iberia which has transformed our proposition for customers. The team has tripled in size, our sales and distribution infrastructure covers the whole peninsula, and our extended portfolio of brands addresses an expanded range of customer applications.”

Spandex in Iberia has evolved dramatically, with the addition of Polynorma in 2014 followed by expansion into Portugal in early 2020 with the acquisition of Portuguese distributor 3ó-DPG, adding warehousing in Lisbon and Porto. Latest investments have included relocating the Madrid warehouse to a larger facility to optimise product availability and delivery for customers across Spain and Portugal.
